Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil A high-quality oil makes all the difference.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped Consider using organic basil for a more robust flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon fresh garlic, finely minced Fresh garlic will give you the best taste.
  • 1 tablespoon aged balsamic vinegar Look for balsamic that’s thick and syrupy.
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground Freshly ground pepper enhances the flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning A mix of dried herbs to pump up the flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust to taste for spiciness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt To bring all the flavors together.
  • 2 teaspoons grated Parmesan cheese Adds a rich, cheesy note.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the extra-virgin olive oil, fresh basil, minced garlic, and aged balsamic vinegar. Use a whisk to combine thoroughly.
  2. Sprinkle in the black pepper, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, and grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Allow the dip to sit for 5-10 minutes at room temperature to let the flavors meld together.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a shallow dish or a small bowl. Serve with warm, crusty bread like ciabatta or French baguette.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. This dip can be made 24 hours in advance. Avoid overmixing after adding cheese to keep flakes intact.
